Charlotte Rescue Mission-- This
was our last dinner for the year, and we came close to running out of
food, because the men enjoyed it so much. Served the same meal as last
month with the addition of watermelon. Same great kitchen crew as
before with the addition of John Bivens, a friend of Bill Heard. We
thank all who helped and encourage everyone to join us next summer.
They always look forward to our coming, and it is a wonderful
experience.
Katrina Recovery Offering--
This offering will be collected until Aug. 29. Checks may be placed in
the Mission Box at the entrance to the Sanctuary.
Urban Ministry
-- is requesting used eye
glasses, which can be prescription or not. There is a box on the table
at the entrance to the Sanctuary where they can be placed.
Hope Haven--
We received a nice thank you letter from Hope Haven for the original
donation we sent for the new washers. The UMW also sent a donation of
$300. This is where we we take our Room In The Inn laundry each
winter. If you still would like to donate, please give the check to
Brenda with Hope Haven Washer on the "memo" line.
Crop Walk-- is
Oct. 31st. There will be more information on the bulletin board in
Sept. and we will be signing up walkers.
The next
Mission Committee meeting will be held October 4 at 7:00pm in the
library, and all are welcome to join us.
Prayer Opportunities:
Prayer Room: Our prayer room is open
24/7. The reason it is now open is the generous gift given that helped us
purchase a numbered key lock for the door. To access the prayer room,
simply call the church office & ask for the access code.
8:30 Sunday Morning: We meet in the library to
pray for the services, Sunday school time and all the activities that take
place during the day.
9:30 Sunday morning: We meet in the library to
pray for the concerns and needs of the church.
Room In The Inn
For many
years, Mouzon UMC has participated in this
important volunteer-driven ministry which
provides a safe, warm place for Charlotte's
homeless to stay for one night a week
during the harsh Winter months.
We provide a warm meal that evening,
breakfast the next morning and a bag lunch, as
well as some conversation and hope.
Samaritan's Purse / Operation Christmas
Child
For many years we have filled about 200 shoe
boxes and dedicated them on Thanksgiving Eve. Following the service, we
deliver the shoe boxes and volunteer at the Operation Christmas Child
warehouse.
