Children's Ministries  

Our ministry to children and their families is based on the scripture reference from Psalm 127:3, "children are a gift from God," and the Baptismal Covenant.

Child Care for infants through two's is staffed by loving and experienced paid workers during Sunday School and both worship services. 

Children's ministries  at Mouzon serve infants through fifth graders and their families by offering opportunities for Christian education, worship, and service.  Highlights include:

Galactic Blast VBS 2010 Update (August 2-6)

Another successful Vacation Bible School at Mouzon UMC!!!!! 

But what do qw mean by ‘success’?  Well, some might say it was because we had 35 amazing children from age 3 and up participating each evening.   Others might point out the dedicated commitment of the nearly 30 adult and youth volunteers who faithfully showed up each and every night!  But I think I can define success for myself as the feeling in my heart….the laughter heard by both the children and the adults….the love that continues to grown within our church….and maybe mostly, all the children saying ‘are we going to bible school again this week????’!

The children arrived at the church around 6pm each night.  They were divided into one of 6 groups (Planets Earth, Jupiter, Neptune, Venus, Saturn and Mars) and led by an adult and/or youth volunteer.  Gathering time took place in the sanctuary where the kids would sing one of their Galactic Blast songs and hear a daily message from the Astronaut.  From there they divided up to rotate through different stations.  They learned a new bible story each evening, sang songs during music time, ran around during recreation, sat down (can you believe it!) during snack time, made fun crafts and talked with a space gorilla named Galileo. 

Friday night was our family night at the church.  The Movers (who had been extremely busy each evening of that week making amazing and clever snacks for the children) hosted a hotdog dinner.  We had approximately 70 children and adults attend.  The highlights of the night included a wonderful slideshow of pictures from the week, a final puppet show, watching the kids sing two songs and a very yummy rocket ship cake!

If we tried to THANK everyone by name now I would surely run out of paper so I will simply say ‘Thank you to ALL’.  We are more convinced each year that VBS would not have happened as wonderfully as it did without the help of each and every adult, youth and child who participated. 

MOUZON KIDS – WHAT’S HAPPENING?!

NURSERY CARE –

 Is available during Sunday school and during the 11 am worship service for infants – 3 years olds.  Jaime Torres is our nursery worker.  She is a student at Queens College.  We just love Jaime and are grateful for her dedication to Mouzon – she rarely misses a Sunday!  When that occasion occurs, we are lucky to have Mary Miller, who has been part of the Mouzon family for a long time.  Thanks gals!

SUNDAY SCHOOL –

*on the first Sunday of the month, the children will be gathering together to do some special stuff, like mission projects. If you would like to help with these Sundays, let us know!

GODLY PLAY IS BACK

Thanks to many fabulous volunteers, Godly Play began in August.  On the 2^nd and 4^th Sundays, children ages 3 – 2^nd grade can enjoy a special time of children’s worship during the 11 o’clock hour.  After the Children’s message, your children will be escorted to the Godly Play room by the “doorkeeper”.  They will then be taught a special lesson by the “storyteller”.  You may pick them up after the 11 o’clock service in the Godly Play room.

VACATION BIBLE SCHOOL was a COMPLETE BLAST!!!!!!!!!!!! 

A huge thanks to all for leadership and dedication during VBS this year.  Kudos to the Seniors for givings us incredible, creative snacks each night.  Thanks to all of the adult and teen/ kid volunteers.  And thanks for bringing your children, grandchildren and neighbors and allowing the folks at Mouzon to worship with them in a special way. We had a great time; it was out of this world!

Did you know?  There is a group of Charlotte moms that meet at Mouzon every Monday at 9:30 to pray for students- mostly at Selwyn, AG and Myers Park HS.   The group is called MOMS IN TOUCH and has been meeting at Mouzon for years. If interested in coming, contact the church.

Seasonal Church-Sponsored Events for Children

Christmas Nativity Pageant - Led by our middle school youth, the pageant gives all children the chance to participate in the miracle of the Christmas story.

Easter Eggstravaganza - Children are invited to visit Mouzon for an afternoon filled with Easter-related arts and crafts, refreshments, and an Easter Egg Hunt. Open to church members, neighbors, and friends.
